TEACHER GIFT ~ what girl doesn’t love flowers?

Last year, Daughter #1 had a student teacher for the last half of the year.

I don't know about you, but I feel so bad for student teachers. Being thrown into a whole classroom full of crazy fourth graders could cause anyone to have a nervous breakdown! I didn't understand how kids tick until about my fourth child. I'm an EXPERT now 😉

To continue with my story: The student teacher, Miss E, is a beautiful 21 year old Southern girl with a sweet Southern drawl and a kind heart.

Well,  next week Miss E is starting in her brand new job as a third grade teacher about two hours away from me. (Sad face) This past weekend, my two daughters and I took a road trip over to visit her before she starts her teaching career.

I never go anywhere empty handed so I wanted to make her something for her new classroom. Where do I go for inspiration?

PINTEREST, of course!

I saw many neat gifts but I have a tender heart for flowers. I can't grow them, mind you, but I love to look at them and smell them.

This was my favorite.

So I went to AC Moore and bought

* a square vase (the picture vase is round)

* ribbon

* pretty flowers

Then I went to Target to buy a box of unsharpened pencils.

I hot glued the pencils to the sides of the vase.

I wrapped the pencils with four tight rubberbands to make the pencils even more secure. To hide them, I hot glued two different color ribbons with a bow in the front.

The flowers add a little punch of beauty and

VOILA!

Miss E posted a picture of the vase on her new desk!! I was so excited to see it and the picture next to it. Two of my favorite people EVER!!!

    • Thanks Randi~ I love the idea that she’ll be able to use it for a long time filling it with flowers her students bring her or pencils. Whatever. And I hope she thinks of me whenever she looks at it 🙂 ~Linda

  1. I'm a 3rd grade teacher, and I would LOVE to get this adorable gift! I may have to follow in your footsteps for my daughter's first grade teacher.

    • Thanks Erin~ Miss E loved it and she can look at it and think of us. She can fill it with flowers her students bring in for her. And it cheers up her desk. I think your daughter’s teacher would love it, too. Good luck! ~Linda
